How does it work?

1. Use just like a disposable -- put on baby, fasten hook and loop to desired fit, and go!
2. Machine wash and dry as instructed below.

Why is this diaper so great?

  • Designed to be extremely simple to use
  • Hook and loop closures for effortless diaper changes and a great fit
  • Hidden elastic around the legs to keep everything in
  • Suedecloth inner layer to help keep the baby’s bum dry
  • Waterproof polyurethane laminate (PUL) outer
  • Super-absorbent microfiber sewn-in soaker
  • Fold back laundry tabs to prevent diaper chains in the wash
  • Fully washer and dryer safe
  • Fleece topped flannel or hemp doubler may be purchased separately if you find that your child needs additional absorbency.

How many do I need to buy?

Bum-Ware Extreme AIOs are used just like disposables, so plan on purchasing one diaper for each disposable you would have used. Infants go through 8-12 diapers per day, so we recommend getting 16-24 size small diapers to last two days (then wash). As your baby grows, you will need fewer mediums and/or larges (6-10 per day). You may want to also puchase one or two doublers for night-time use.

What size should I get?

Size Pounds Waist Rise
Small 7-12 lbs 13-17" 14.5"
Medium 10-23 lbs 14-18.5" 16-17"
Large 23-40 lbs 16-22" 18-19"

*Weight measurements are only a guideline. Actual weight range will vary depending on the shape of your baby. Please measure your child if possible, to ensure a proper fit. Diapers are very adjustable, and should fit most babies. However, babies come in all shapes and sizes -- not every diaper will fit every body shape.

How do I wash them?

Remove solids (toss them into the toilet after you change your baby).

Bum-Ware diapers should be washed and dried on hot for maximum absorbency at least 3 times, prior to first use. Thereafter, wash with hot water (no higher than 120F) and line dry or machine dry on medium heat setting.

Recommended detergents are: Tide 2X Ultra (Cold Water or with Color Clean Bleach Alternative) or Simplicity Hypoallergenic Non-Toxic 2X. HE detergents: Cheer 2X Ultra Color Guard, Tide 2X Ultra, Seventh Generation, and Kirkland. Use only a small amount of detergent. Detergents that have caused problems include Dreft, Charlie's Soap and Sportswash. Diaper rash creams may coat your diapers and be hard to wash out.

Soak diapers in diaper pail (or washer) prior to washing in solution of either water with vinegar or water with baking soda. Put contents of diaper pail in the washer, run the spin cycle, and wash diapers on hot, separate from clothing, OR, store your diapers in a dry pail until ready to wash, whatever works best for you. If you find that the hidden layer bunches up (like pockets in your jeans, you have to put your hands in your pocket to straighten them) stretch the diaper on the sides from top to bottom to smooth the hidden layer. The diapers are designed to roll in at the legs to keep the wetness in. Always make sure no brown or white fabric is sticking out, make sure there are no gaps at the legs, and that there is no clothing inside the diaper to prevent wicking.

If your diapers stop absorbing, you need to wash them several times (4-6) with hot water, and no detergent.  Washing methods that are NOT recommended, and will cause problems include: scrubbing diapers with a toothbrush, washing in the dishwasher, boiling, microwaving, as well as other questionable methods.
